The Decameron 十日谈
Location: Providence, USA
Time: 2021 - present
Descriptions:
十日谈(The Decameron, shi ri tan) holds themed panel talks, poetry workshops, and seminars since 2021. In the past, we organized events in collaboration with other community partners including 706 Youth, the Regenerative Earth Collective, RISD CSSA and RISD Museum. Through themed events, we bridge people with different skillsets and perspectives to engage in conversations that are culturally and politically radical, yet intimate and tender because people were invited to speak in their mother tongue --Chinese.
The name of 十日谈 is inspired from the novel the Decameron by Giovanni Boccaccio (1353). We found parallel in that the novel is about a group of young people taking shelters from the pandemic and sharing stories with each other to pass the days. 十日谈 is founded amidst COVID-19. We want to inspire genuine conversations and mutual understandings among Chinese students, artists, and scholars in Large Providence Area.
I am the founder and the co-organizer of the Decameron 十日谈.
